4th Of July Mini Sessions

The heat is HERE! Summer in Kansas is all about trying to stay cool, having fun and one of the best holidays. Fourth of July has always been a favorite holiday of mine since I was little. I adored shooting off fireworks with my dad and brother.

Since my last Christmas mini sessions were such a hit, I have wanted to keep offering different mini sessions for my clients. The sets always are fun and look amazing with all the little ones. Special thank you to my mom for always making these awesome sets. These sessions will be all about showing your American pride and celebrating this holiday! We don’t exactly know what the set up will look like exactly but think lots of red and blue. If you’ve ever seen some of my previous sets you know you will not be disappointed! These would be perfect for Father’s Day, birthdays, updating your photos for your home or Christmas gifts!

Senior Styled Shoot | Kansas City Senior Photographer

Kansas City Senior Photographer

Apple Blossoms & Fashion Styled shoot

Ever since I started my business a few years ago I knew I wanted to do something fun with seniors. About a month ago I was thinking how beautiful the trees would be at my families orchard, Cider Hill Family Orchard. I thought the blossoms would be a perfect for beautiful senior photos. I also really wanted to play with Holi powder. Which is what is used for color runs. I pitched my idea to my makeup artist friend, Melissa Blayton. She of course was willing to help! She had a few models herself and I had about 6.

Prior to the shoot I ordered 12 pounds of the Holi powder and I had a lovely family friend make beautiful flower crowns. I cut several branches of apple blossom buds for Karen to put on the crowns. They looked perfect with the apple blossoms. She is with Pendleton’s Country Market in Lawrence, their farm is awesome! If you are a bride looking for a florist, she rocks!

The day of the shoot the girls came at 3 to start makeup and hair. The orchard was having an apple blossom festival that weekend so it was crazy! We had a vendor that was a friend who makes beautiful jewelry! Last minute I asked if they would like to let us use some of their jewelry for promoting. The jewelry looked beautiful! The have a vintage store in downtown Bonner Springs called Deedee’s. They also do event decorating! They are great!

Overall, the shoot went fabulous. The beautiful girls, the beautiful weather, and just a beautiful location! Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen! I really appreciate everyone’s help. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Sonja & Ben: MARRIED!

I had the pleasure of photographing Sonja and Ben’s reception on October 31st at Cider Hill Family Orchard. I met Sonja through her lovely Mother who works during the fall at the orchard. Sonja and Ben originally got hitched in Fort Collins, CO but wanted to celebrate their marriage with friends and family in Sonja’s home town.

It was a beautiful evening with twinkly lights, beautiful table pieces, and a very nature feel.

Jessica & Brett: Just Married!

I was very excited prior to shooting this wedding to see how they would incorporate the bride’s love for vintage. Jessica and her mother have found their passion in opening a vintage store in an old house in downtown Bonner Springs. It was the little touches that made this wedding not only beautiful but special.
Jessica choose a very shabby chic theme for her wedding and reception. She decorated the barn with twinkly lights that made the whole barn light up. She made dry lavender bouquets and a dry lavender head piece. The whole night was magical for the beautiful couple.

Spring; the one thing we wait for all winter to come. The leaves start coming to life, green grass sprouts, and blooming flowers are everywhere. Spring is also the beginning of the wonderful but long wedding season at the orchard. Like many other couples, Julie and Turner planned a summer wedding at the orchard. Their wedding was to be a celebration of life and love.  Sometimes life has an amazing way of changing direction.

Turner began to have health issues.  His health continued to declined during the early months of 2015. With Turner’s advancing health issues, the two decided that maybe having a big wedding was not as much of a priority in their lives.  The couple called the Orchard and cancelled the wedding.

Through a turn of events that could only have been orchestrated by God himself, I joined an incredible team of people who decided to have a wedding for Julie and Turner.  I was honored to photograph an amazingly beautiful wedding.

Many of my moms friends joined in to help Julie & Turner create a magical yet simple wedding. My mom’s life group provided a meal for the small reception and got all of the details worked out for Julie and Turner.

Just like the couple originally planning the night was a celebration of Life and Love.
